According to a source close to the couple, Britney Spears and Sam Asghari have decided to separate after a happy year and a half of marriage.
Another source stated that Asghari had started the divorce procedure and that he had moved out of the home they shared and into his own apartment. Spears, 41, and Asghari, 29, have not yet made any comments regarding the breakup.
The source texted, “They’re separated, and it’s best for Britney.” Asghari, a fitness instructor, model, and actor, has appeared in programs like “Black Monday” and “Hacks.”
In September 2021, he proposed to Spears, and in June 2022, they got married. They had been together for more than five years, having first connected after meeting on the set of Britney Spears’ 2016 music video for “Slumber Party.”
They got engaged when Spears was still under conservatorship. Her attorney, Rosengart, had fought hard and been successful in getting the court to suspend her father, which was the first stage in dissolving the conservatorship; thus, she was on the verge of being released from the legal arrangement.
Spears claimed that because her conservators, which included her father, Jamie Spears, controlled her finances and every area of her life, she was unable to marry Asghari and have further children, as she had asserted in her evidence against her 13-year conservatorship.
“I would like to progressively move forward, and I want to have the real deal; I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I was told right now in the conservatorship that I’m not able to get married or have a baby,” Spears told the judge in June 2021.
Spears and Asghari exchanged vows in a small ceremony at Spears’ home in Thousand Oaks, Calif., with around 60 guests, including Madonna, Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, and Paris Hilton.
Her father, mother, Lynn Spears, and sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, were not present. In December of 2021, a month after her conservatorship was terminated, a judge gave Spears the power to sign documents on her own for the first time in over 13 years, which would include a marriage license.
“She has the power to do whatever she wants to do,” Rosengart said to reporters outside of the courthouse. About six months later, the couple got married. Spears and Asghari, who met on the set of Spears’ “Slumber Party” music video in 2016, dated for four years before getting married.
The couple made their red-carpet debut in 2019 at the premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.” This was Spears’ third marriage.
She married her childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas in 2004 for 55 hours before getting their marriage annulled.
Later that year, Spears married her backup dancer, Kevin Federline, with whom she has two sons, Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden James, 16. Spears filed for divorce in 2006, which was finalized the next year.
