Christian B, a 46-year-old German convicted sex offender, has reportedly been reaching out to former friends, seeking their support in light of the pending rape and child sex charges against him. He has expressed frustration at how prosecutors are portraying him as a “monster.”
At least two individuals who were previously acquainted with Christian B have received letters from him in recent months, according to The Mirror. These letters have raised concerns and startled the recipients, as they hadn’t been in contact with him for years.
Christian B faced charges in Germany last autumn for various sex crimes committed on the Algarve, including the alleged rape of an Irish holiday rep in 2004 and the sexual abuse of a 10-year-old girl on a Portuguese beach in 2007. He is also the prime suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, who went missing from the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz in 2007 at the age of 3. He has consistently denied any involvement in her case.
A friend revealed, “I know of two people who got the messages from Chris. It really freaked them out. They hadn’t heard from him in years, and then these letters suddenly arrived in the post from Germany.”
Christian B is currently under investigation by German detectives regarding Madeleine’s disappearance, as well as awaiting trial for other allegations of rape and child sexual assaults supposedly committed in Portugal. However, earlier this year, the charges related to these crimes were dropped following a court ruling on jurisdiction
Madeleine McCann’s parents, Kate and Gerry, have never given up hope of finding their daughter, who vanished from their holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in May 2007 while they were dining with friends at a nearby tapas restaurant. Despite his incarceration for rape and drug trafficking, Christian B is set to be released in 2026 and maintains his denial of involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance.
