Dream with your eyes open. It is a famous saying But some people are not even able to dream with their eyes closed. The topic of dreams is very fascinating to anyone so cultures all around the world have made their own theories about it.

Many people believe that dreams are a gateway to another world while some are convinced with the thought of gods like Morpheus or Baku controlling our dreams. The idea of dream catchers also came from a famous thought of dreams that they can be cached and by which we can protect ourselves from nightmares. The stories are unlimited tell us in the comments which one do you believe in the most.

Dreams are only made possible if you sleep. Sleep is one of the things that almost every living creature does and it doesn’t even require any skill. On average, a human can spend about 26 years just sleeping. You might think if we humans are so good at sleeping then why am I not able to sleep comfortably even if I want to?

The study of sleep is called  polysomnography. It tells about how sleep affects our mind and body.

Sleeping is the only time when the body gets a good amount of rest and can repair itself. the sleep cycle affects almost everything in the body from hormones to skin and from mental health to digestion. On average humans should sleep for 7 to 8 hours a night any less than that may cause disturbance in the biological cycle and ultimately show its negative impacts in the future.

1. Keep cool

The surrounding temperature highly affects our body. Do you ever feel sleepy sitting in a cold room when the AC is on and all you want to do is to lay down and think about nothing? That is the effect of the cold temperature of the room.

Scientific studies show that our body temperature drops to a degree or two right before we are about to fall asleep. Sleeping in a cold room helps your body reach a lower body temperature faster which in return helps you to fall asleep faster.

2. Skip caffeine

Coffee is said to be the enemy of sleep and a friend of late-night studies. It contains a compound called caffeine which acts as a powerup for the body. It makes your heart beat a little faster and gives you the feeling of alertness.  Drinking any drink with caffeine before sleeping will make your body feel more alert and result in not being able to fall asleep easily

3. Yoga

After a long and tiring day all you would want is to go home and sleep on that sweet bed of your and call it a day giving your body the ultimate satisfaction.

A series of yoga asanas can help your body to stretch and release relaxing signals. Doing some yoga before sleeping also helps in muscle soreness and getting rid of any muscle tension so that your body feels at ease while you try to fall asleep.

4. Meditation

It is one of the most easy ways to make your body feel relaxed and your mind peaceful. Many people have a hard time falling asleep as they tend to have a million thoughts running through their minds. Meditation can help with that.

5. Put on calming music

Many might think that listening to music will disturb your sleepiness but there might be a different way too. Calming music can include bird songs, temple bells, sound of the rain or any other minimal sound that you might find calming. The minimal sound helps your mind in focusing on the rhythm and distracts you from any other thought so that your mind becomes peaceful and you can easily fall asleep.
